I’m not going to sit here and pretend that I understand Louisiana and why they insist on having “parishes” and not counties like every other state. Actually, on that topic, I’m not going to pretend to understand how Maine and Nebraska split up their electoral colleges either. But what I do understand is that Louisiana has taken the first steps towards legalizing sports betting in their state. The majority of their parishes last night voted to move forward with this legalization which is awesome.
Obviously this legalization is not going to be immediate, so I don’t want to get everyone’s hopes up too much, but this is a great first step. With so many parishes, including Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Lafayette, voting to legalize, I’m going to have to start driving down from Fort Worth more often.
Think about how great it’s going to be to walk into a sports book and place an over on the 11.5 punt prop for the LSU/Alabama game and then walk over to Death Valley for the game. I can’t wait.
Most people think that this legislation will come into place in mid-2022, but let’s hope it happens earlier!
