Don’t quote me on this, but I believe that this was Joel Edgerton’s writing and directing debut, and he does a masterful job of creating a harrowing suspense drama in this one. Jason Bateman and Rebecca Hall play a happily married couple whose lives are disrupted when their old acquaintance (Joel Edgerton) that Bateman’s character used to bully shows back up in their lives. It’s pretty crazy how this one turns out, and the twists and turns will keep you wondering who is the “good guy” – if there is, in fact, a “good guy” in this movie. The Gift has a runtime of 108 minutes and can be streamed on Netflix.
