Liverpool Football Club is a professional soccer club that competes in the English Premier League (EPL), the top league in English soccer. Liverpool was founded in 1892 as a member of the Football League. The club was one of 22 members to join the EPL when it was founded in 1992. Since joining the EPL, Liverpool has yet to win the championship but is poised to do so in 2019-2020 as the team has not yet lost on the season. The club has never finished lower than eighth in the EPL and has finished as high as second four times. Since 1992, Liverpool has won the FA Cup twice and the Europa League once. They have won the Champions League twice as well, once in 2005 and the other time in 2019. Liverpool plays its home matches at Anfield in Liverpool, England. Anfield has been Liverpool’s home since 1892, and it is the seventh largest soccer stadium in the EPL with a seating capacity of 54,074.
