Crystal Palace Football Club is a professional soccer club that competes in the English Premier League (EPL), the top league in English soccer. The club was founded in 1905 and joined The Football League in 1920. Crystal Palace was one of the original 22 members of the English Premier League but did not finish higher than 18th in their first four EPL chances and were demoted after one season each time. It was not until the 2013-2014 season when they were again promoted to the EPL that they were able to stay up. The club has not finished higher than 10th in the EPL, and they have yet to qualify for any UEFA tournaments. Since 1992, Crystal Palace’s best finish in either the FA Cup or the League Cup was a runner-up finish in the 2016 FA Cup. Crystal Palace has played its home matches at Selhurst Park in Selhurst, London, since 1924. The stadium seats 25,486 people and has been the club’s home since having to move from Hyde Park, London, during World War I.
