Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club (commonly referred to as just Brighton) is a professional soccer club that competes in the English Premier League (EPL), the top league in English soccer. The club, founded in 1901, is nicknamed “The Seagulls” and “Albion.” Brighton was not one of the original 22 members of the English Premier League and was in League Two (formerly Division 3) as recently as 2001. Brighton has had a good amount of success in both League One and League Two since 2000, winning League One twice and League Two Once. In 2016-2017, Brighton came in second place in the Championship and was promoted to the EPL for the first time in club history. The club’s highest finish in the EPL was 15th in the 2017-2018 season.
