Athletic Football Club Bournemouth is a professional soccer club that competes in the English Premier League (EPL), the top league in English soccer. The club was founded in 1899 as Boscombe St. John’s Institute F.C. and did not change their name to its current iteration until 1972. From 1992, when the English Premier League was created, to 2015, Bournemouth played in League Two, League One, and the Championship. The club won the Championship in the 2014-2015 season and was promoted to the EPL the next year. Since joining the EPL, Bournemouth’s best finish was 9th in 2016-2017 and worst finish was 16th in 2015-2016. The club has never won any English or UEFA tournaments in its history. Bournemouth has played its home matches at Dean Court in Dorset, England since 1910. The stadium was renovated in 2001 and has the lowest capacity in the EPL, seating just 11,329.
