Best Bets For 2020 Masters

Despite the struggles I’m going to have figuring out what to watch on Sunday, I’m excited to bet on the Masters this weekend. There’s something about betting on golf that I find to be really rewarding. It makes the whole experience of watching some dudes play a sport all day that you could easily be out playing yourself seem a little bit more manageable. In this blog, I’m going to go through my best weekend bets from outright winner to top-20 finishers. All odds have been taken from Fox Bet NJ.

Outright Winner: Bryson DeChambeau +800
I’m very much aware how lame it is to start this by picking a completely chalk odds on favorite. But how could you possibly bet against Bryson right now? Aside from the fact that he seems like a real stick-in-the-mud loser, he’s got 10 top-10 finishes in 2020, including his U.S. Open victory in September. He’s driving the ball like a mad man all over the course and seems primed to dominate Augusta National. If he can keep all of the hype from getting to his head, I think you’d be foolish to pass up betting on Bryson, especially with those 8-to-1 odds.

Top 5 Finish: Collin Morikawa +600
I thought Morikawa would be a pretty popular pick for the Masters after winning the 2020 PGA Championship and becoming the second player in PGA Tour history to open his career with 22 consecutive made cuts. The 23-year-old is one of the most tactical golfers in the world right now and seems to keep a low score ever time he steps foot on a course. This is his first Masters which made me hesitant to predict a victory, but his +4000 outright winner price tag will definitely be getting a few dollars from me. Morikawa is going to be in the hunt on Sunday, and you’ll be thanking me on Monday when your +600 has hit.

Top 10 Finish: Jordan Spieth +500
I understand why nobody wants to bet on Jordan Spieth right now. He’s been playing terribly and doesn’t even closely resemble the golfer he was in 2015 when he won the Masters. But Jordan Spieth loves this course. Since that 2015 win, he’s finished 2, T11, 3, and T21. Compare that to other recent tournaments where Spieth doesn’t even make the cut and you realize that this guy loves playing at Augusta. There seems like no better time for Jordan to turn around his fortunes than this weekend, so I’m loving him for a top-10 finish.

Top 20 Finish: Kevin Kisner +350
There are obviously golfers out there that have a better shot at a top-20 finish that Kisner does, but when it comes to golfers with +300 odds or higher, I really like Kisner’s chances. He had a VERY up and down 2020 so far that has featured as many top-10 finishes as cuts (6). It’s felt like every tournament has presented Kisner with the opportunity to be either really good or bad, so why not take a chance on him being good this weekend and finding his way into the top-20.

Other bets I like: Patrick Cantlay outright +2500, Tony Finau top-5 +650, Jason Day top-5 +700, Tiger Woods top-10 +333, Sung Kang top-20 +1200
