Quarantine Gambling Life Hacks

Quarantine is BORING and the worst part is that sports don’t exist any more. So what is there to gamble on? Well, obviously online casinos and poker sites are a great start, but what about things around the house?

I live with my cousin and we’ve started setting odds on stuff we do every day with payouts at the end of every week. Speed eating competitions, trash can basketball, and 500 Rummy all have their own sets of odds based on who has more talent (me) and the likelihood that the underdog (my cousin) will actually pull out a win.

Sometimes you just have to be creative in quarantine. We set up the little fish pictured above all around the apartment and award points per hit with a nerf gun. There’s different points for each area of the fish, and a direct shot to the mouth is an automatic win (because it’s a legitimately impossible shot.

At the end of the week, we tally up our wins and our losses, and the loser (my cousin) usually has to do some chore or buy some food or whatever we decide on that week. Maybe I should make some videos of this at some point? I don’t know.

I’ve even started making little bets with myself to help pass the time. I live on the third floor of an apartment complex, and I love to sit on the balcony with my dog and make wagers on which people/dogs walking below she will bark at. I’ve just about narrowed it down to all females and any dog that is bigger than 50 pounds will be getting a bark from Sadie. All other dogs are a toss up. If I guess correctly, I take a drink. If I guess incorrectly, Sadie gets a treat. Let’s just say she keeps getting fatter, and I’m getting more sober.

The point of me writing this is to say that there are a million different things you can be doing right now in quarantine to keep yourself busy. We’re going to get through this and we’re going to get past COVID-19, but in the meantime, keep yourself busy and have some fun making up bets around the house. Leave a comment below with some suggestions for games we can add to the list.

P.S. Marble racing on YouTube is consuming way more time than it should. Who wants to start betting on these races with me?
