The Lighthouse is a weird, weird movie that I think I was too stupid to fully understand. The great thing about it, though, is the performances by Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson. They are essentially the only two characters in the movie, and they blew me away with how they carried this film. Not only was their dialogue great, but so much of what made this a top notch film in 2019 was what went unsaid. Director Robert Eggers isn’t going to be for everyone, but I thought that this was an excellent follow up to his surprisingly solid debut film The Witch. The Lighthouse has a runtime of 109 minutes and can be streamed on Amazon Prime.
